Halloween Spectacle with the Crypt-Kicker 6

Fans of the vintage hit song Monster Mash and its Crypt-Kicker 5 get it kicked up a notch to “6” as this event includes popular local musicians Emma & Will, Chloe Brandi Band and Webster Moore. Expect more ghoulish dance party faves during this all-ages performance. And as Best of Chico 2025 winner for favorite music venue, The Barn is hosting this Halloween bash for two consecutive nights. Popular Chico drag queen Miss Ruby (aka Alexander Garcia) is the Mistress of Ceremonies for this unusual variety show with scheduled performers Sierra Hall, Kelsi Judge, Melli Farias and more. The macabre carnivalesque night offers Halloween-themed cocktails, music, games, costume contest and other hauntings, all housed at the site of the historic Union building, downtown Oroville. Dia de los Muertos is a rich Mexican tradition that honors departed loved ones but also celebrates them with colorful, festive gatherings. No surprise that Chico has embraced the event big time with the area’s biggest gathering happening at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. Promoter Divine Sundays has lined up several groups performing traditional Mexican folkloric dance, music and singing. Also find food trucks, beer garden, vendors, calavera face painting, and a community altar where offerings are welcomed. Marlon Funaki is an “artist on the rise”, with his genre-blending sound of jazz-influenced alternative rock, all while wearing his niche-defying cowboy hat. Crisscrossing the country with many sold-out stops, his growing fan base connect with his authenticity as he writes, records and mixes his own music. Touring with Funaki on several stops is thebandfriday, a duo from SoCal. Adin Eshaghpour and Finnian Morris perform their blend of alt/indie rock and folk-pop. The Robert Cray Band

Before this multi-Grammy winner gained worldwide fame, Robert Cray and his band were performing in many college towns on the West coast in the 1970s and 80s, including Chico. You could hear him deliver his blend of soul, R&B, gospel and blues numerous times at The Graduate and Cabo’s downtown, and some years later at Feather Falls Casino where Robert Cray delivers the soulful goods. Now, on the Out Driving Around Tour, the master guitar player and bluesman returns to Chico before heading up to Eugene, where the band first formed in the 1970s.
