Joe Sib Comedy

Joe Sib grew up in the remote hills of Santa Cruz County, laser-focused on skateboarding and performing with punk bands. His addiction to the stage turned into stand-up comedy where he’s been performing for more than 15 years. From his music background to current life as a father, he works it into his comedy routines. Sib admits he’s inspired by and admires the likes of Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Jim Breuer, Greg Giraldo, Taylor Tomilson, Bill Burr and more. Check the CN&R calendar for more information. Wolf Jett, The Real Sarahs and Jessica Malone

Three great Nor Cal bands come together for a night of rock, Americana, singer-songwriter and acoustic tunes. Wolf Jett was formed in the Santa Cruz mountains, their all-original songs infusing folk, soul and Americana into what they call “Cosmic Mountain Music.” Their dance tunes feature soulful vocals combined with lively improvisation. The Real Sarahs trio (shown here) is an Americana/folk ensemble from Mendocino County, well known in the Bay Area music scene and as a touring band throughout the Western United States, Canada, the UK and Ireland. Award winning singer-songwriter and Mount Shasta native Jessica Malone has played several festivals where she crosses a musical terrain of retro soul, indie folk, and Americana vibrations. You might hear her switch from acoustic guitar, ukulele, mandolin or violin. Funny Girl

First opening on Broadway in 1964, Funny Girl is a Tony Award-winning musical loosely based the real life and career of Fanny Brice, a famous comedian and entertainer in the early twentieth century. The story follows Fanny from her humble beginnings as a Jewish girl in the slums of New York, to her eventual rise to stardom and turbulent romance with gambler Nick Arnstein. Many of the notable songs in this play were made famous by original Broadway cast member Barbra Streisand. Tickets: Adult $30; Senior (65+) $28; Youth (12 & under) $28. Nor Cal’s premier cycling event and its pre-ride festival dominate this picture-perfect weekend. Sponsored by Chico Velo Cycling Club, the Wildflower Century is on Sunday 4/27 offering 8 route options ranging from 12 miles to 125 miles, and open to riders of all ages and abilities. Participation requires paid, pre-registration, $40-$125. The Wildflower Festival is a pre-race-day party on Saturday, 4/26 with a bike rodeo, Sierra Nevada beers, live music, food trucks and vendors. This family-friendly, free event is at Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. It’s also your opportunity for Sunday riders’ registration and check-in. Get all the details here.

If you’re a fan of Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, Gillian Welsh, Merle Haggard and Peter Rowan, then come down and meet Craig Walters, Donna Elkins, Eric Robertson, Rich Reiner and Mark Wilpolt, aka In The Pines. You’ll hear their take on some traditional tunes and few surprises as they serenade with guitar, dobro, fiddle, mandolin and upright bass. Free entry, tips encouraged.
