KZFR Presents: Aki Kumar

The critically-acclaimed Kumar returns to Chico, don’t miss “The Only Bombay Blues Man” in action. Born and raised in Mumbai, Kumar’s parents introduced him to a cavalcade of musical sounds. Moving to the States to study computer science, he discovered the blues in Bay Area nightclubs. After his Adobe lay off in 2013, this harmonica-playing singer/songwriter became a full-time musician. Napoleon Dynamite Live!

Gosh, who cares if the movie “Napoleon Dynamite” came out 20 years ago? Your inner-teenager still loves the story and wants to vote for Pedro. You deserve to watch this full-screening of “Napoleon Dynamite” and interact with the cast members Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez and Jon Gries. Heads up, this event is BYOT (Bring your own tots). Tickets $40-$50; $17 for youth age 17 and under and Chico State students.

Beau Jeffers Hardcore Honkytonk

Howdy folks, if you’re looking for some fine country music then you oughta take a look at singer, songwriter, performer and cowboy Beau Jeffers. He’ll take you through a catalog of some of the most respected country musicians work from the 60s through the 90s, including George Strait, Alan Jackson and Willie Nelson. $5 cover.

Ties and Tiaras: 4th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance

Grandpas, uncles, father figures and mothers are welcome to join their daughters for this special evening, sponsored by the Feather River Recreation & Park District. A light dinner will be provided so you and your girls can have an unforgettable experience. Dads, this could also be a chance to share more classic dad jokes. Fee: $30 per pair and additional $10 for each additional attendee.

Gypsy Jazz with Jimmy Grant and Tim Kliphuis

Let Jimmy and Tim take you to 1930s Paris. Reimagine the music of Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt while on this aural field trip. Kliphuis plays violin with the precision of a wizard, blending and concocting classical, gypsy jazz and folk sounds. Grant is a guitarist who plays a sound inspired by Bach, Benny Goodman and Joe Pass, with guidance from renowned guitarists Jim Nichols and Howard Alden. Tickets are $25.
