Ruth Ormerod: Selected Works

Shows through Aug. 4
1078 Gallery
1710 Park Ave.

Through my art I want the viewer to experience what I feel when I observe nature and to see the influence it exercises on my imagination. I want to capture the mystery of the unexplained, feelings impossible to verbalize, that can only be expressed in images.”—Ruth Ormerod

Before her death in 2012, Ruth Ormerod spent several decades teaching others to create—at Chico State, local public schools and at Chico Art Center. And over that time her own oeuvre of works grew to include a range of mediums—etchings, drawings, watercolors, screen-prints and more—many of which will be on display at the 1078 Gallery during a retrospective of selected works.

The Motet performs July 24 at Sierra Nevada Big Room.

And on Wednesday, July 24, the legendary funk/soul/jazz crew, The Motet (pictured above), will bring the heat for a summer dance marathon. Tickets: $35 and $32, respectively.
