Chico News & Review F.A.Q.

January 30, 2024 CN&R Comments Off on Chico News & Review F.A.Q.

Now that the paper’s online-only, how will I know what’s going on this weekend?

The CN&R calendar is right here. There has always been a digital version, and in fact, the CN&R’s local calendar of art, music, theater and community events will be even more comprehensive online.

How do I submit a calendar listing?

Sign up online here, input your event and have it go live the same day.

Is there CN&R office I can visit?

No, we are all working remotely for now. You can send mail to: P.O. Box 56, Chico, CA, 95927

How do I contact someone at the paper or submit a press release?

Visit our “Contact Us” page.

How do I sign up for CN&R newsletters?

Go right here.

How can I make a donation to support community journalism?

Visit our “Support” page.

How do I get information on the next Best of Chico contest?

Visit the Best of Chico site for updates, and contact a sales rep for more info via our Advertising and Sponsorship page.

When was the Chico News & Review founded?

It was born in 1977 when the student-run Wildcat newspaper rebelled against Chico State administrators and moved off campus.

Why do some people call the CN&R a “liberal commie rag”?

With a longstanding mission of making Butte County a better place to live, the CN&R has always sought out those with progressive solutions for improving the lives of everyone in our community. Sometimes those with money and power have disagreed with the hippies and punks on staff who’ve explored such progress.

What about the “Snooze & Respew”?

One person’s liberal birdcage liner is another person’s moderate campfire starter. We can’t please everyone, nor are we striving to.

How do you pronounce “almonds”?

Around here, it’s “ammins” like salmon. As local farmer lore goes, to harvest the nuts they have to shake the “L” out of them.

Where’s can I get the best taco in Chico?

Depends on what you’re craving. Pastor? Carne asada? Lengua? Each spot has its specialty worth seeking out. Our suggestion would be to visit as many as you can, then check back with us during the next Best of Chico contest and vote for your fave!
