Caltucky with Black Pine Revival

Thurs, April 16, 7:30pm-10:30pm; Doors open 6:30pm
Chico Women’s Club
592 E. Third St.
You’ll get a double dose of sweet sounds on Thursday. Local Americana rock outfit Black Pine Revival has become a fixture of the regional music scene, having opened for acts such as The Mother Hips. The trio formed in 2023 and later released their debut album, Dirt Angels. Also on the lineup is Grass Valley quartet Caltucky (shown here). The jamgrass band rose to prominence in the post-COVID era of 2023. They’re a West Coast festival favorite and have been building a strong following in Chico. They’re returning with their grunge-grass style—blending original bluegrass work and metal-inspired covers. Tickets online. Also, tickets for this all-ages show available without service fees at Pullins Cyclery and The Music Connection. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Standard Deluxe with The Airplanes

Fri, April 17, 6:00pm–8:00pm; Doors open 5:30pm
The Barn at Meriam Park
1930 Marketplace
Special guests are landing at Meriam Park! After departing an indie rock band in San Francisco, Chico musicians Pat Noel and Steve St. Cin launched The Airplanes, bringing their unique “jangle pop” sound with additional band mates to Chico circa 2004. This music subgenre gets its name from the thin vibration of heavy electric guitar riffs. After years in development, their self-titled album, The Airplanes, was finally released in 2020, with some of the early tracks recorded locally at the Origami Lounge. Up next is the 14-year strong country band, Standard Deluxe (shown here). Taking inspiration from artists such as Whiskeytown, Neil Young and The Rolling Stones, this local crew has gained a dancing following through live performances and now a debut at The Barn. This is a free, all-ages event. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Devotional: Depeche Mode Experience

Fri, April 17, 10:00pm; Doors open 9:45pm
Feather Falls Casino, Lodge & Brewery
3 Alverda Drive, Oroville
A tribute to world-renowned Depeche Mode, this show takes your eyes and ears back to the early 1990s with that legendary British electronica rock group. Taking its name from the 1993 album, Songs of Faith and Devotion, the Devotional show started in 2018. It combines the powerful vocals of Freddie Morales to recreate original frontman Dave Ghan’s sound—with nostalgic visuals including lasers and LED video wall—all combined for the sensory experience of being at a Depeche Mode show. Original video production brings to life iconic tracks such as “Personal Jesus” and “Enjoy the Silence”. Must be 21+, free entry. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.
