The Coffis Brothers with Taylor Rae

Thur March 19, 7:30pm-10:00pm
Chico Women’s Club
592 E. Third St.
With six albums and hundreds of shows under their belts, the five-piece Coffis Brothers have become a familiar presence in the area’s Americana live music scene. The Coffis Brothers (shown here) features siblings Jamie and Kellen Coffis, lead guitarist Kyle Poppen, bassist Aiden Collins and Cory Graves on drums. The band has frequently collaborated with The Mother Hips frontman Tim Bluhm, who produced their latest album, Do You Want To. This upcoming show marks the group’s return to the Chico area after their appearance last November in Paradise. This show will also feature special guest singer-songwriter Taylor Rae, an Americana and blues/folk artist whose 2021 debut album Mad Twenties spent more than 30 weeks in the Top 10 of radio charts. Tickets online or without service fees at Pullins Cyclery and The Music Connection. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Maker’s Muse Street Fair
Sat, March 21, 11:30am-10:00pm
Maker Radio
603 Orange St. (at Chico Fab Lab)
The gang at Maker Radio is once again closing off a section of Orange Street to celebrate spring and Chico’s creative talent scene with the ambitious production of a free, community street fair. It kicks off Friday eve, March 20, with comedy and live music on the indoor stage, plus a beer and wine bar. Must be 18+. Saturday is an all-day, all-ages, massive festival held mostly outdoors and includes: 18 live music performances starting at 11:30am, and over 65 booths selling unique goods, crafts, food, plus beer and wine available; more than 20 comedians taking the stage throughout the day with subjects leaning into adult-content as night approaches. Then there’s: creative and interactive fun in the Kid’s Zone all day; art displays and performances, including the outdoor mural painting competition and some unusual sculptures; and the Reuse & Thrift Fashion Show. To navigate this mega-fest, get a free copy of complete program schedule—or scan QR code with your phone—at the festival entrance. Surf Noir Kings

Sat March 21, 1:00pm-4:00pm
The Allies Pub
426 Broadway St. Ste 130
What do you get when combining guitarist Robert Karch of the Karch Trio, singer-songwriter Miles Corbin, drummer Jerry Morano of Spark ‘n’ Cinder fame and multi-instrumentalist Mark Wilpolt from In The Pines? Grab your board wax and shorts as Surf Noir Kings paddles into Chico. The four-piece band has been riding its unique blend of jazzy surf grooves since 2021, performing original tunes written by frontman Miles Corbin, founder of surf-rock outfit The Aqua Velvets. The Chico-based group delivers an atmospheric take on Beach Boys–inspired melodic rock, mixing surfy vibes with loose jazz rhythms. A favorite on local stages, the band returns for a free show at Allies Pub—one of its go-to Chico venues. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

The Gnarly Pints

Sat March 21, 6:00pm-8:00pm
The Barn at Meriam Park
1930 Market Place
A little bit country… a little bit rock and roll. Husband and wife acoustic rock duo Emily and Jacob Nolen began performing music together to fund their wedding, releasing a 5-song EP in 2014. Emily combined her classical-training violin stylings together with Jacob’s hard rock sensibilities. They just released a new album, and the busy pair also offers music lessons. You can reserve seating for this all-ages, free event. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Kid Cops, Planets, Wealthy Women, Vik Whistle

Wed March 25, starts at 7:00pm
1078 Gallery
1710 Park Ave.
The non-profit Chico art collective 1078 Gallery is not your typical art gallery, as it’s long served as a home for live performance art including local music and student exhibitions. This upcoming show features performances by four progressive/indie/math and experimental rock groups. Kid Cops (shown here) is an indie rock group with a math-themed twist that released its self-titled debut album (on cassette) in 2025. This Chico ascetic punk trio explores universal themes like conflict resolution and family struggle through its stripped-down sound. Next up is the two-piece, self-described “math rock” band—The Planets. Formed in 2006 in Napa, the group includes bassist Paul Slack and drummer Thomas Crawford, whose live sound has been described as brutally progressive. Wealthy Women, a San Francisco four-piece indie band, blends traditional metal guitar with pointed political commentary. The group released a new single, “Men of the West,” in 2025. Rounding out the lineup is experimental Chico indie band Vik Whistle, which performs regularly at local venues such as Naked Lounge and Argus Bar. The band gained viral notoriety for its track “Memory of Salt.” Tickets for the all-ages show are $15, at the door. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.
