When not performing with the Orland-based 32 West band and their playlist of blues/country/rock, Melanie Kendrick can be heard as a solo vocalist in venues around the North State, with her smooth take on classic and contemporary favorites. On this return evening visit to the Allies Pub, expect to hear her powerhouse vocals delivering pop, jazz and country, with many selections from legendary female recording artists. Boot Juice & Smokey The Groove

Boot Juice, a seven-piece NorCal band from Davis, brings its self-described “cosmic rock” to the Sierra Nevada Big Room as part of the brewery’s Bigfoot Bash, celebrating the release of Bigfoot Ale. Drawing influence from bands such as Talking Heads, the group has maintained an ambitious touring schedule since forming in 2017 and released its latest album, The Right Place, in October 2023. Chico-area funk band Smokey The Groove (shown here) will also perform. The six-piece psychedelic jam band describes its sound as a blend of Bonnie Raitt and Blind Melon. The Twilight Zone: Live!

Rod Serling opens The Twilight Zone vault once again to present, for our consideration, two episodes from the 1960s television classic series. The Blue Room Theatre is wrapping up their 30th anniversary by celebrating with this live, stage adaptation of “Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?” and “Dead Man’s Shoes” (shown here). Sonic Gravity

Sonic Gravity returns to The Barn with its fusion of reggae and R&B stylings. The quartet was formed in 2024 and features vocalist and keyboardist Shayne Tolchin, bassist Logan Ancheta, drummer Rich White, and guitarist Yahmo Ahqua, a familiar name in the Chico music scene. Tolchin credits a wide range of influences, including Alicia Keys and Billy Joel, for shaping the group’s sound. As Best of Chico 2025 winner for favorite music venue, The Barn last hosted this band in November. This is a free show, open to all ages. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Matt Rainey and the Dippin’ Sauce

Matt Rainey and the Dippin’ Sauce are two-time winners of the Sacramento Area Music Award for Blues Band of the Year. Rainey, as a solo artist, has also performed alongside Bay Area acts including the Jerry Garcia Band and RatDog. He has built a strong following in Northern California’s live music scene, with performances across the Sacramento area and Placerville, and now the band returns to Rolling Hills Casino for their monthly appearance. The music kicks off early during the Sunday Blues Brunch at the casino’s Rock & Brews restaurant. Admission is free with the purchase of a meal, though seating is limited.
