Keeping with their tradition of several holiday-themed events, Judge and her troupe return to Mulberry for a special Christmas cabaret show, scheduled for several December dates. Those Dudes – Rock Duo

Fri Dec. 12, 6:00pm-8:00pm; Doors open 5:30pm
The Barn at Meriam Park
1930 Market Place
Not just any dudes — Those Dudes! Rock musicians Doug Holroyd and John Hague are bringing the full sound to The Barn in Meriam Park. This rock duo performs classic rock from the 1970s and 80s, crediting an early addiction to Led Zeppelin as the catalyst for their interest in music, and characterized by an upbeat, electric energy. This classic rock show continues a tradition of great live events at the Barn, a 100+ year-old structure which was reassembled at its current site. This is a free event, all ages. You can request reserved seating online. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

The ReGifters

Fri Dec. 12–Sat Dec. 20; Fridays & Saturdays at 7:00pm; Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2:00pm
Blue Room Theatre
1005 W. 1st St.
Regifting goes awry when the same, unwanted present is passed among four couples, each having different financial assets and beliefs in Christmas. Learning later that the gift may be worth a fortune, each couple attempts to reclaim it in this fun, snarky, holiday-season comedy. In the end, everyone who gave the gift away learns about friendship, real wealth, and the value of a gift truly given. Written by Robert Lynn who’s no stranger to comedies, holiday plays, and one-person shows, this play features local talent including comedian Jessy Jaymes. Tickets online or at the door. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Red Dirt Ruckus and Ryder Thieves

Sat Dec. 13, 8:00pm; Doors open 7:00pm
Lost on Main
319 Main St.
Get ready for a foot-stomping good time with two bands. Bluegrass group Red Dirt Ruckus (shown here) provides “…A joyous surrender to the music”, according to music critic Tyler Blue. Expect a high-energy show “with a sprinkle of rage” from singer-songwriters Doug Abbott and Dan Abbott, the fiddle strings of Lisa Bond, trumpet player Jared Collins, and drummer Rob Keedy. The quintet also covers multiple genres, including Green Day’s “Basket Case” and Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” Also performing is self-proclaimed psychedelic rock band Ryder Thieves, who released their debut album, This is What We Do, in 2021. The quintet hails from Placerville, led by vocalist and guitarist Robby Dean. Their Chico visit last January at The Crazy Horse Saloon earned the post “The kind of hardworking rock n’ roll band everyone wants to root for.” Tickets online, or without service fees at the Down Lo. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

The Miami Rogue Roosters

Sun Dec. 14, 11:30am-1:30pm
Mulberry Music Station Brewery
175 E. 20th St.
Are you ready for the Funk? Prepare your ears for a day of traditional, nonsense jazz from The Miami Rogue Roosters. The small but mighty band has played a variety of venues in Chico and the surrounding Northern California area since 1999. They often encourage students of the arts to join them on stage as well. Tap your foot to the sounds of guitars, saxophones, and even bongos as you enjoy live original music at Mulberry’s weekly, Sunday brunch. The jazz show is a free event, and tipping is encouraged. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.
