An Evening With David Sedaris

Thur Nov. 6, 7:30pm; Doors open 7:00pm
Laxson Auditorium
400 W. First St.
David Sedaris has been performing in Chico every few years since 2016 (exception: pandemic period). His readings of published material and works-in-progress are shared with the audience and uses timing that morphs into stand-up comedy. When he’s not busy on tour, as a guest on talk shows and podcasts, or writing plays with his sister, Amy, he’s a frequent contributor to the New Yorker magazine. His most recent major essay-collection is Happy-Go-Lucky, published in 2022 and a children’s book, Pretty Ugly, in 2024. His Chico audience might expect to be tested with some new material that explores subjects utilizing his brand of wit, irony, and sometimes dark or bittersweet humor. Tickets online are $38-$58, with discounts for youth and Chico State students. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Kimmi Bitter

Thur Nov. 6, 8:00pm; Doors open 7:00pm
Winchester Goose
800 Broadway St.
Kimmi Bitter delivers a musical style called “countrypolitan” paying homage to some of country’s greats from the past, but with her own mod twists. She and her band, the Westside Twang, hit the road after wrapping up a performance at the 2025 AmericanaFest in Nashville, touring the country and now heading through NorCal for her first visit to Chico. This guitar-playing singer/songwriter’s debut album Old School put her on the map of the underground Americana scene and classic country, too. Tickets online or at the door. More details about this artist and the show in the CN&R calendar.

Fri Nov. 7, 8:30pm; Doors open 7:30pm
Tackle Box
379 E. Park Ave.
This Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter keeps expanding her talents, including master fiddle player. Starting as a teen, Amanda (shown here) has collaborated with several legendary songwriters and toured with her supergroup The Highwomen. Her Texas roots play heavy in her style of Americana/folk/alternative country and folk-rock—expect to hear sampling from her latest album Nobody’s Girl. Opening the show is NorCal rocker Sabrina Stratus. Tickets online, or locally at Diamond W Western Wear. Must be 21+ to attend. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Bella Rayne & Friends plus Webster Moore Trio

Sat Nov. 8, 7:30pm; Doors open 6:30pm
Chico Women’s Club
592 E. Third St.
Bella Rayne (shown here) does not hide her admiration for the Grateful Dead, psychedelic rock, Southern rock and 90s grunge. Together with her youthful age, guitar talent and high energy, she and her band have the perfect formula for improvisational rock with roots in jam and blues. Expect to hear some jamband covers and original material on her first visit to Chico. Opening the show is Chico’s Webster Moore Trio. Tickets online or at Pullins Cyclery and Music Connection in Chico. More details about Bella Rayne and this show in the CN&R calendar.
