Four Weddings & an Elvis

Thur Oct. 9–Sun Oct. 26; Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm; Sundays at 2:00pm
Chico Theater Company
166 Eaton Rd., Suite F
It’s present day Las Vegas as you enter a small, dated, kinda tacky wedding chapel—you know, the sort that has a neon OPEN sign in the window. In this comedic play Sandy is the officiant at the nuptials, and she’s had her own share of poor choices in the romance department. You witness four weddings, each knot tied for very different reasons, all complete with an Elvis. The show blends romantic comedy and heartfelt moments, ultimately celebrating love in all its messy, unpredictable forms. And it’s staged at Chico’s favorite theater company chosen in Best of Chico 2025. This show not recommended for children. Tickets online. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

We Americans love to chop up October’s name—a perfect portmanteau example—re-branding it as titles for all sorts of festivals. So, ARTober FEST is downtown Chico’s salute to the season. It includes events—some all month long—with focus on celebrating the Arts. The Art & Wine Walk invites you downtown Oct. 10 for wine, beer and cider tasting (for a fee, must be 21) while viewing all the month-long showcased art displayed in businesses, galleries and open spaces for free. Plus, live music provided at some of the stations. For more month-long fest info on sidewalk sales, music, art exhibits including the annual Open Studios Tour, stage performances and walking tours of Haunted Downtown Chico, check out ARTober FEST. Or, for individual events check the CN&R calendar.

Reggie Watts–Music & Comedy

Fri Oct. 10, 7:30pm; Doors open 7:00pm
Laxson Auditorium
400 W. First St.
You know Reggie Watts from his musical TV stints on IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang! and The Late Late Show with James Corden. Growing up biracial, in a military family and residing in Montana, provided early influences on his music and performance art. Along the way, Watts developed an irreverent, stream-of-consciousness comedic stage identity, catching the attention of Conan O’Brien with whom he’s done several projects. This show is not conventional stand-up comedy, but delivers absurdist musical comedy, improvisation, and unpredictable performance art with his mastery of technical effects. Tickets online. Outdoor Pre-Show with food trucks, beverages and live music starts at 6:00pm. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.
