Laurie Dana & Friends plus Sapphire Soul Revival

Fri Sept. 26, 7:00pm; Doors open 6:30pm
Chico Women’s Club
592 E. Third St.
Versatility is Laurie Dana’s middle name. She’s known for a “bluesy, sultry” voice that pairs with her keyboard work crossing over several genres. And the “& Friends” is more than a dozen, local musicians adding to the variety of this cabaret-style extravaganza. In addition, hear a performance by some of the original Sapphire Soul band mates reunited in a “Revival”. This R&B/soul/funk group were favorites in the CN&R’s CAMMIES music awards. And to jump start the evening is the jazzy duo Peter & Tricia Berkow. Tickets online are $20, or at the door. Go here for musical lineup. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Joshua Hegg & Friends Concert

Sun Sept. 28, 7:00pm-9:00pm
Museum of Northern California Art
900 Esplanade
Now based in Portland, Josh Hegg (shown here) spent his formative musical years in Chico: think of the bands Clouds on Strings, Bogg, and Aubrey Debauchery & the Broken Bones. Additionally, this pianist, composer, and arranger was co-founder of Uncle Dad’s Art Collective, and most recently provided the musical score for the 2025 Chico Fringe Festival play, Burn Ban. Add to this concert vocalist Molly Mahoney. On a return visit to Chico, she brings her mastery of the Great American Songbook to the performance —“sheer beauty and eloquence” says the S.F. Chronicle. Completing the ensemble is Levi Saelua (woodwinds), Ethan Swett (bass) and Christopher Avery (drums). A perfect combo to top off a Fall weekend. One intermission, with bar beverages available for purchase. Tickets online or at the door, $20. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Bumpin Uglies and Stay Positive Sound

Tues Sept. 30, 8:00pm; Doors open 7:00pm
Lost on Main
319 Main St.
This five-man crew identifies as East Coast ska/punk/reggae and they’ve been growing a fan base on tours all over the country and up and down the West Coast. The Uglies (shown here) are making a stop inland in Chico to deliver a high-energy show with strong rhythm and horn sections, guaranteed to fill the dance floor. Warming up the audience will be Chico’s own Stay Positive Sound. Must be 21+, Tickets online or at Diamond W in downtown Chico. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.
