Rainbow City Park, bloodsugar, Charity Kiss
Fri, Sept. 5, 7:00pm-10:00pm
Naked Lounge
118 W 2nd St.
They must really like Chico. Rainbow City Park (pictured here), the indie-rock band from Sacramento, is returning again with their distinctive 90s-influenced alt-rock and dream-pop blend. They’ve been touring non-stop since last spring. With them is Chico’s own bloodsugar, a four-member band influenced by ’90s grunge and early-2000s emo-pop. And returning from Reno is Charity Kiss, one of those genre-defying bands delivering their version of desert rock. They fuse it with punk and a little twang, indie-style. All ages, tickets $10 at the door. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Shrek Rave
Fri, Sept. 5, 9:00pm

It’s going to be a night in the swamp with EDM. High energy, non-stop dance party fueled by goofy costumes, lots of green flashing lights and the lovable Shrek. “Are we there yet”? Don’t forget your Shrek ears. Must be 18+. Tickets online or available at Diamond W Western Wear. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Lil Kayla & Lou Deezi

As a young hip-hop artist from San Francisco, Lil Kayla voices both Bay Area grit and creative flair. Her latest track I’m Just a Girl, samples her dynamic rap delivery. At barely 20-years-old, this is a return visit to Chico for Lou Deezi, and he has a growing fanbase. This musician from Reno presents raw storytelling through rap, including his third album, Scary Movies. Together, their onstage presence is a high-energy blend of their individual styles. All-ages show. Tickets online including service fees, are $48.83 general; $100.33 ticket with meet & greet. Also available locally at Diamond W Western Wear. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Olivia Harms
Sun, Sept. 7, 5:00pm-7:00pm
The Commons
2412 Park Ave.
It’s no surprise where singer/songwriter Olivia Harms got her inspiration. Growing up on a ranch in Oregon, and as the daughter of Western Music Hall of Fame member Joni Harms, embracing country-western storytelling through music came naturally. Her music brings back honky-tonk swing and Bakersfield grit. Now that she hangs her hat in northern California, we’ll see her back in Chico on future visits. Check her tour schedule for shows in the Chico area, and at cowboy poetry gatherings, rodeos and more. This is a free, all-ages show. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.
