The Foreigner

A comedy by playwright Larry Shue and directed by Joe Hilsee. A fishing lodge in rural Georgia is the setting for the visiting Englishmen Charlie Baker and Staff Sergeant Froggy LeSueur. The painfully shy Charlie wants some solitude, so to aid him, friend Froggy tells lodge owner Betty Meeks that Charlie hails from an exotic country, not speaking any English. Soon, Charlie is silent witness to an outrageous group of characters revealing mysterious schemes and scandals with hysterical and unexpected results. Tickets: $18.00. Hands Off Our Democracy Rally & March

Where else can you exercise your right to free speech one day and listen to patriotic American music the next? The Hands Off Our Democracy event is part of a National Day of Action, held in coordination with rallies and marches across the nation, calling for a stop to mass firings and attacks on due process, human rights, health care, etc., by the current presidential administration. Bring your energy, voices and signs to this free event. Then on Sunday you can join the Chico Community Band for “Americana: A Portrait of Music Composers and Arrangers Past and Present”. This free CARD-sponsored event will be held at 3pm at the Chico Masonic Family Center. Donations encouraged to support the band. Mumblefinger

Mumblefinger (aka Brian Birkes) returns to the Trail with band members. You’ll hear a blend of funk, jazz, blues/soul along with some country and reggae. While perfecting his guitar playing, this singer/songwriter was influenced by Leon Russell, Joe Cocker, Dr. John, Robin Trower, and more. No cover. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Graffiti/Muralist & Fine Art Show

Enjoy the visual display and process of muralists and fine art painters while they create pieces indoors and out. Artists from Mexico, California and local will be participating as they create, show and sell their work. This free event, presented by Sophi’s Art Garage, continues all afternoon with an art auction at 4pm. Check the CN&R calendar for more information.

Allah-Las with Monde UFO

The Allah-Las band (shown here) delivers alternative/indie rock with some surf rock influence. According to reviewers “Allah-Las seems to be transmitting from a place not found on any map. Those familiar with the band’s work will recognize their skillful melding of melodies and moods, but through that lens we see them venturing into new, exciting territories”.
