No Other Land

Palestinian activist and filmmaker Basel Adra has been fighting his expulsion by the Israeli occupation since he was a child. In his award-winning film, No Other Land, Adra meets Israeli journalist Yuval, and they fight against the expulsion as the bond between the two grows. After the film there will be a short presentation by Rain Scher about their trip to the West Bank with an open discussion to follow. This is a fundraiser for Adra’s family, with sliding-scale suggested donations: $5-$20. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Travel back in time to 1907 in Oklahoma territory. There’s a rivalry brewing between farmers and cowboys, while pretty farm girl Laurey and cocky cowboy Curly form a loving bond. Their relationship is in for a bumpy ride as they yearn for a new life in the new state of Oklahoma. This beloved Broadway musical and its dancing will be sure to fill your soul with joy. Singer/songwriter Laurie Dana is back in town after being away busy working for FEMA. She joins good friend Tricia Berkow as they play two pianos, swapping each other’s tunes. That’s not all, though, as local guest Peter Berkow will join them playing some smooth bass. Let this musical trio take you on a song-filled journey, and sing along to your favorites. $5 cash cover towards the band.

Honky Tonk Saturday Night

Country music isn’t just for southerners, Chico will boogie Saturday night featuring live dance instructions from Donna and Karen. Then, strut your stuff while live musicians will be playing the honky tonk classics so you can jam on to your heart’s content for the rest of the night. $5 fee.

Singer, songwriter, and comedian Steve Poltz will be performing a memorable evening of pop rock, folk and indie rock along with his music stories.
