Detention” Definitely Not The Breakfast Club

Reminisce over the past in this reimagining of the classic 1980s movie The Breakfast Club. This take on the beloved film in the form of a play is directed by Samantha Shaner and adapted by Jaxon Strausbaugh. Drew Lynch

Comedian and actor Drew Lynch appeared on season 10 of America’s Got Talent where his Golden Buzzer performance finished in second place. As a result of a traumatic brain injury at age 20, he developed a passion for self-deprecating stand up comedy. Since then, he’s gained millions of followers on social media and toured across the world. Tickets $29-$49; $17 for youth 17 and under and for Chico State students.

Emo & Burlesque Night – I Miss You & I’m So Sorry

Get your edge on and go back to the 2000s with angsty music plus burlesque dancers from Atalanta Productions, a company that specializes in multiple art projects. A special set will be performed by local music group, Deep Cuts, who focus on emo, screamo and pop punk covers from the early 2000s. Check CN&R Calendar for more info.

The Great Pumpkin Splash!

Oct. 5, 1:00pm-3:00pm and 4:00pm-6:00pm
Pleasant Valley Recreation Center
2320 North Ave.

Dive into this floating pumpkin patch that’s fun for the whole family. CARD invites kids of all ages to the PV pool for a fresh swim where they can pick a pumpkin of their choice from the water. Once chosen, they can decorate their pumpkin and take it home. Enjoy other arts and crafts available, such as a sugar cookie decorating station by Brown Box Bakeshop. $10 per child, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Polyrhythmics returns with Free Creatures!

Polyrhythmics is a Seattle band combining tight grooves, bold brass, hypnotic percussion, progressive jazz and Afrobeat, according to their website bio. They’ve released six full-length albums, multiple EPs, plus tours and live releases. Free Creatures a band from Oregon brings together musical flavor that forms this alt hip hop power fusion trio. The group has been growing, touring the nation and connecting with fans from across the country. Check CN&R Calendar for more info.
