Rick Estrin has been playing harp on Chico stages for as long as he’s been playing music live. The Bay Area bluesman has become a local fave, and Chico Concerts is bringing the charismatic frontman and his band The Nightcats back to the Chico Women’s Club stage tonight (Friday), March 29, 6:30 p.m. Local legend Big Mo joins forces with Bay Area axeman Volker Strifler to open the show. Tickets: $30.

Three local writers have come up with one-act plays based on the cover images of the exciting/sexy paperbacks novels from the 1940s and ’50s. Shows happen Friday and Saturday nights, at 8 p.m., March 29-April 13, at the Blue Room Theatre. (By the tracks!) Tickets: $15.

Chico Area Recreation District is hosting its 61st annual(!) Spring Jamboree. It looks like the weather will cooperate (the rain should be gone by early morning), so the day before Easter, Saturday, March 30, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., the playground at Caper Acres and the huge Sycamore Field lawn next to it will be bustling with bounce houses, live music, spring-themed crafts, yard games, face-painting, a petting zoo, food trucks, and of course, the Easter Bunny!

You know spring has really sprung when there are too many community events going on the same weekend. This one has live music and dogs! The annual fundraiser has been moved from the Butte Humane Society grounds to the Silver Dollar Fair compound Saturday, March 29, 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m., and will feature the customary food trucks, local beers and vendors, plus performances by some of Chico’s favorite bands—Van Hagar, Soul Possee, Whiskey River Band and more. Tickets: $30/adults; $10/kids.
Tim Bluhm & The Coffis Brothers

Last year at this time, Tim Bluhm was playing the Woofstock festival with his band the Mother Hips. This year, he’s in town with Santa Cruz roots/Americana crew The Coffis Brothers to christen the cool new outdoor amphitheatre at The Commons. The show goes down at the “Social Empourium” this Saturday, March 30, 6:30 p.m. Tickets: $25.
Pancakes for CHAT

Community Housing Action Team has kept the long-running Chico Easter Sunday tradition of pancakes and charity at the CARD Center alive. This Rose Garden will be open Sunday, May 31, for enjoying a morning meal that includes organic whole-wheat and corn pancakes, plus an egg hunt and a visit from the Easter Bunny! Breakfast starts at 8 a.m.; egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. Tickets: $10-$20.
