Bonfire’s Big Night Out!

Interested in getting a chance to tell your captivating 5-minute story on stage? Author Bonnie Pipkin and Bonfire Storytelling invite you to join this unique show where ticket holders may put their name in a hat for a chance to share their story. The theme for this event is “For Art! For Love! For Money!”. Eight participants will be drawn to go on stage, there will be cash prizes and music as well. Tickets are $22 for the public and $12 for students.

Watch not just one, but six one-act plays created by John Gassner Playwriting Award winner David Ives. An evening of wit, intellect, satire and comedy stories directed by Butte College drama instructor Kevin Muster. Stories range from two people meeting in a cafe where they fall in love, to answering the question of what three monkeys would produce on typewriters. Tickets are $10 and $5 for Butte College and K-12 students.

Halloween Pet Costume Contest at The Lost Dutchman Taproom

Who doesn’t like a cute pet? What better way to show your love for your furry friends than by dressing them up for this Halloween event. The outdoor parade of pets welcomes group costumes and invites the whole family. Ten percent of the entire day’s sales will also go to the Butte Humane Society. The Best of Broadway Series Presents: The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Get ready for this musical adaptation of Victor Hugo’s classic novel of the same name. With elaborate costumes and sets, the California Regional Theatre performers and the Paradise Symphony Orchestra bring this powerful story to life. This is combined with a score by Alan Menken and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, artists known for their work on various Disney projects. Check CN&R calendar for more information.

Sugar Pushers, Bad Barnacles and Furlough Fridays

Rock out to some haunting tunes at this spooky show. Alt-rockers The Sugar Pushers appear whenever autumn leaves begin to fall each year, according to their bandcamp site. Furlough Fridays, a local fixture in the Chico music scene are known for their “post grunge rock” sound. The Bad Barnacles (pictured) is a four piece group from Sacramento who are definitely not in a cult, according to their website. If you arrive in costume, you get a free Jell-O shot!
